״מתן הוא קודם כל בן שלנו.
ילד שאהב חופש.
ילד של נתינה.
ילד של אהבה.
וילד שנרצח.
ביום הראשון הגיעו החברים של מתן
והייתה החלטה שאנחנו יורדים למטה לחפש אותו.
השטח עוד היה מלא במחבלים.
זחלנו בפרדסים שם, חיפשנו את מתן.
ראינו זוועות, ראינו גופות, הרחנו ריח של מלחמה.
ביום חמישי קבלנו טלפון ממישהו שהיה עם מתן
וסיפר לנו את רוע הגזירה. כלומר הוא סיפר לנו שמתן לא בין החיים.
הרוע בהתגלמותו היה שם.
חייבים לתת לאור להיכנס בין הסדקים האלה של הרשע״.
לזכרו של מתן מרדכי ליאור ז”ל, משדי חמד
אשר נרצח על ידי מחבלי החמאס, במסיבה שחגגה את החיים, ב-7 לאוקטובר 2023, בהיותו בן 35 בלבד.

Matan is first and foremost our son.
He was a child that loved his freedom.
A child that loved to give.
A child of love.
And a child that was murdered by the exact opposite of all of these things.
He had an audio and sound business that he built by his own two hands.
It’s hard work!
And he loved it.
He always looked after others
before looking after himself.
We saw it in the rave party
when he first made sure that his girlfriend was safe
and then he stayed on stage
to call on the loudspeaker for everyone to evacuate.
“We’re asking everyone to leave through the emergency gates”
He saved many, many of his friends.
On the first day Matan’s friends came by
and decided to go back to the site to look for him.
Many Hamas terrorists were still on the loose.
We crawled around in the orchards, looking for Matan.
We saw horrors, we saw bodies, everywhere was the smell of war.
On Thursday,
We got a phone call from someone who was with Matan at the party...
and he told us the worst news...
He told us that Matan is no longer among the living...
They wanted to murder and torture as many as possible…
Even dead bodies…
Hatred is an integral part of them
And we have to fight them.
We have to win.
If those children of light had not stood in their way
They would have continued on into the country
And they would have murdered many more families.
They would have reached other children…
And I cannot imagine what they might have done.
